5-star WR, Tampa Bay Tech’s Dallas Wilson signs with Florida football after Oregon flip

Billy Napier and Florida football made the two-hour drive to Tampa on Friday for the Gasparilla Bowl vs. Tulane.

The visit to Hillsborough County ended up becoming a little more sweet for the Gators as they landed the commitment of one of the top wide receiver prospects in the county, state and nation — right from the Bay Area.

Dallas Wilson, who initially signed to Oregon, flipped and signed from with UF after being released from his agreement with Oregon. Wilson, who is an in-state from prospect from Tampa Bay Tech, is rated as a 5-star composite from 247Sports.

247Sports ranks him as the No. 20 prospect in the nation, fourth among wide receivers and third among players in Florida. He’s the top-ranked WR in Florida, and only safety DJ Pickett (LSU) and OL Michael Carroll (Alabama) come in ahead of Wilson among all players in the state.

Wilson signed with the Ducks on December 4 – Early National Signing Day, despite some predictions that Wilson could flip to Florida. However, Zach Abolverdi of GatorsOnline reported Thursday morning that Wilson asked to be released from his financial affidavit. His agency – Elite Sports Management Group – made the news official late Thursday afternoon.

Wilson is Napier’s second 5-star recruit thus far. He joins fellow WR and Orlando-Jones prospect Vernell Brown III.
