Alabama lands commitment from top 2026 in-state cornerback

.

After a few decommitments in recent weeks left the program with no current commits for the 2026 recruiting cycle, the Alabama Crimson Tide officially got back on the board Tuesday afternoon by securing the commitment of one of the top in-state prospects in the class, Zyan Gibson.

Gibson announced his commitment to the Crimson Tide on Christmas Eve, Dec. 24, over a trio of additional finalists that included the Auburn Tigers, Miami Hurricanes, and Tennessee Volunteers.

As mentioned previously, Gibson is an in-state prospect for the Crimson Tide out of Gadsden City High School. According to the 247Sports Composite rankings, Gibson ranks as the nation’s No. 67 overall player in the 2026 class, as well as the No. 8 cornerback and the No. 4 player in the state of Alabama.

Gibson also becomes the first prospect from Gadsden City High School to commit to Alabama since Dre Kirkpatrick Jr. did so back as a member of the Crimson Tide’s 2024 class.
