BLOOMINGTON — Indiana football has landed a commitment from App State receiver Makai Jackson, a source with knowledge of the situation confirmed to The Herald-Times.
The Hoosiers have landed a flurry of commits on offense over the last 48 hours as it looks to build on the success of last year’s trip to the College Football Playoff. They have added one of the top running backs available in the portal (Maryland’s Roman Hemby) and the No. 2 ranked transfer quarterback (Cal’s Fernando Mendoza).
Jackson earned third-team All-Sun Belt honors last year with 46 catches for 745 yards (16.2 yards per catch) and five touchdowns. He closed out the season with back-to-back 100-yard performances against James Madison and Georgia Southern.
He also had five carries for 90 yards with a score.

Why Indiana football signing Makai Jackson matters
Indiana knew it had to do some work to replenish a receiving corps that was one of the team’s strengths last season — the Hoosiers had five receivers with at least 25 catches and 300 yards last season and three of them are exhausting their eligibility — landing Jackson really jump starts that process.
He’s capable of filling the void left by Myles Price and Ke’Shawn Williams in the slot having had success playing the position as a freshman at St. Francis, but don’t expect him to stay in one spot. He was effective as a boundary receiver for App State and IU could take advantage of that versatility by moving him around the line of scrimmage more than Price or Williams did last season.
