Ohio State football gets key addition in Big Ten transfer tight end

Recruiting

The Ohio State Buckeyes have received a commitment from Max Klare.

Klare played this past season with the Purdue Boilermakers and spent his first three seasons in college at Purdue before looking to stake a big step and join the Buckeyes.

The tight end really struggled to produce much during his first two years at the Buckeyes’ Big Ten foe, but he did come on strong as a junior. Klare ended with 685 receiving yards and four touchdowns.

That said, Pete Thamel was among the many to report the commitment.

Gee Scott Jr., a graduate, currently leads the Buckeyes tight end room, so they certainly could add some depth to the position. Klare is among the best transfer weapons in the portal and could add significant strength to the unit.

With Will Howard moving on as well after this season, there’s no telling how much use the position will get next season.

Scott Jr. had just 189 receiving yards on 20 receptions through the Buckeyes’ first 13 games, so ideally, Klare will present as a greater weapon for the Ohio State offense.
