MADISON – Will Pauling left the Wisconsin football program for a greener pasture.
The redshirt junior receiver announced on social media Tuesday his commitment to Notre Dame. He has one year of eligibility remaining.
The announcement comes one week after he announced his plan to transfer and makes the Chicago native’s landing spot the highest profile of the 24 players who entered the transfer portal from the Badgers, many of whom have not made a decision yet.
Notre Dame beat Indiana on Friday to advance to the second round of the College Football Playoff.
On X and Instagram Pauling wrote:
“Following God’s Lead. #GoIrsh #Committed”
Pauling will give the Fighting Irish a reliable slot receiver in 2025. Pauling caught 116 passes for 1,244 yards the past two seasons, leading the Badgers in receptions each year.
His transfer marks another step in his ascension. He was a three-star recruit according to Rivals and 247sports coming out of Homewood-Flossmoor High School in Flossmoor, Illinois.
He signed with Cincinnati and redshirted as a freshman. As a redshirt freshman he caught 12 passes for 122 yards in 2022, Fickell’s final season as the Bearcats coach. When Fickell took over at Wisconsin Pauling was one of handful of players and recruits, who followed the coach the Madison.
