IU football and its fans got quite the Christmas gift Wednesday.
All-American and All-Big Ten defensive end Mikail Kamara posted a video on social media saying he will hold off on the NFL draft and return for one more season in Bloomington.
“… But the way the season ended, that left a real bitter taste in my mouth,” Kamara said in the post, referring to the College Football Playoff loss to Notre Dame. “And with that being said, I’m going to promise you all I’m going to give it all I got one more time.”

Kamara compiled 10 sacks and 15 tackles for loss this past season, helping the Hoosiers rank in the top 10 nationally in scoring defense (15.7 points allowed per game, 6th), total defense (256.1 yards, 3rd), rushing defense (76.2 yards, 1st) and turnover margin (+1.1, 5th).
He was named a third-team All-American by the Associated Press and first-team All-Big Ten.
Kamara, who participated in IU’s senior day, had one more year of eligibility available. He played two seasons at James Madison and followed first-year coach Curt Cignetti to the Hoosiers, making an immediate impact.
