The No. 5 Texas Longhorns will meet the No. 4 Arizona State Sun Devils on New Year’s Day in Atlanta for the Peach Bowl, but the Sun Devils will be without a key defensive presence for the first half of the game.

Star defensive back Shamari Simmons was ejected for targeting in the Big 12 Championship game. As a result of the call and the call being upheld on review, Simmons will be sidelined for 30 minutes for his next game as part of the penalty. His next game is indeed the Peach Bowl.

Simmons has been key to Arizona State’s success in 2024, recording 69 total tackles, three pass breakups, an interception, and three forced fumbles. Known for his hard-hitting style and playmaking ability, Simmons’ absence will be felt as the Sun Devils look to contain Texas’ high-powered offense especially within the first-half.

Someone please enlighten me what else Shamari Simmons is supposed to do here.
