LSU will meet Baylor in the Texas Bowl next week.
For LSU, it’s a reunion with former defensive coordinator Dave Aranda, who earned the Baylor head coaching job after helping lead the Tigers to a national title.
LSU and Baylor don’t see each other often. They’ve met 11 times, but not since 1985. Baylor won that one 21-7 in Memphis.
Today, we’ll look at LSU’s all-time record vs. the Bears, as well as some of the memorable matchups between the two.
This is LSU’s first game against a Big 12 opponent since its last trip to the Texas Bowl in 2021. Kansas State got the best of a decimated LSU team going through a coaching transition. Safety Jontre Kirklin was forced to play quarterback for LSU, and the game unraveled fast.
LSU will hope for a better showing this time out. The Tigers can’t reach their 10-win marks from 2022 and 2023, but LSU can finish the year on a three-game win streak and carry momentum into 2025.
LSU’s all-time record vs. Baylor
The Tigers are 8-3 vs. Baylor.
LSU’s largest margin of victory was an 89-0 beatdown in 1908. LSU won the first five meetings between the schools and had another three-game win streak from 1968-70.
Memorable meetings
Most of these games haven’t been close. Only three were decided by one possession, with most being blowouts, similar to that 89-0 final.
The 1908 meeting isn’t just noteworthy because of the score, but this is the year LSU announced itself to the sport. This squad is one of the most dominant in program history. The Tigers finished 10-0 and outscored opponents 442-11.
