Cam Ward might be playing in Miami’s Pop-Tarts Bowl, but it seems he’ll be without his favorite receiver.
Xavier Restrepo announced hours before the slated bowl game kickoff against Iowa State that he was declaring for the 2025 NFL Draft. Though he didn’t mention the game in his post, it likely means he has opted out of the Pop-Tarts Bowl.
“So grateful for the opportunities that God has blessed me [sic] and will forever be grateful to the University of Miami. I LOVE YOU MIAMI!” the Coconut Creek native posted to social media. “It’s been a lifelong dream to play in the National Football League since I was a little 5 year old kid. Now I believe it is time for me to go pursue my dreams and aspirations!”
Restrepo was named a first-team All-American by the American Football Coaches Association and made the second team in the Sporting News, Associated Press and Football Writes Association of America teams. He led the team with 69 catches for 1,127 yards and 11 touchdowns. His yardage and TD numbers were best in the ACC, and he was tied for 10th in the nation in receiving yards.
Restrepo also holds Miami records for career receptions (200) and receiving yards (2,844), and he’s fourth in receiving touchdowns (21).
