Davante Adams caught Aaron Rodgers’ 200th and 400th TDs, hopes to get his 500th on Sunday

As a rookie with the Packers in 2014, Davante Adams caught his first touchdown pass — which happened to be the 200th touchdown pass of Aaron Rodgers’ career. In 2020, Adams caught Rodgers’ 400th touchdown pass. On Sunday, Adams hopes to catch Rodgers’ 500th touchdown pass.

Rodgers is at 499 career touchdowns and needs one more to join the 500-touchdown club, and Adams said on Friday that he wants to be the one to catch it.

“Obviously, I’d love to,” Adams said, via ESPN. “I got 200, I got 400, so it would be dope to get 500 as well.”

Adams has spent most of his career with Rodgers, first with the Packers and this year reuniting on the Jets.

“We’ve had some special connections in the past, so it’d be great,” Adams said. “And, obviously, it would be a big, big thing for him. Not that he needs more accolades and more milestones, but you might as well keep racking them up while you can.”

Rodgers and Adams have hooked up on 82 touchdown passes, tied with Dan Marino and Mark Clayton for the third-most touchdown passes for a quarterback-receiver combination in NFL history. Only Peyton Manning and Marvin Harrison (114 touchdowns) and Steve Young and Jerry Rice (92 touchdowns) have more.
