The first of two offseason transfer portal windows gave Auburn football a lot to like in regard to its additions. But in looking at the net gains and losses, it’d be easy to assume things didn’t go well for the Tigers transfer-wise.
Hugh Freeze’s roster took a net loss during the winter portal window, with 18 players departing Auburn as 14 transfers arrived. However, a deeper assessment shows the Tigers’ losses are unlikely to outweigh their gains come 2025.
Of those 18 departing players, just eight were upperclassmen. The 10 underclassmen included three members of Freeze’s inaugural Auburn signing class, but just one of them, Walker White, was considered a top-100 prospect. Of all the Tigers to enter the portal, just four of them made multiple starts in 2024.
Here’s a full look at Auburn’s losses in the transfer portal, and which of those departures may be most significant next fall.
