BATON ROUGE – In its first two seasons under Brian Kelly, LSU football ended on high notes with bowl-game victories.
After a rollercoaster of a regular season that started with a head-scratching loss to USC in Las Vegas and then six straight wins before a three-game skid ultimately eliminated them from College Football Playoff consideration, the Tigers have a shot to win a third straight bowl game and end 2024 on a positive.
LSU (8-4) meets Baylor (8-4) in the Texas Bowl at NRG Stadium in Houston on New Year’s Eve (2:30 p.m., ESPN).
The matchup pits LSU against former defensive coordinator Dave Aranda, now the head coach for the Bears. Aranda coached the Tigers defense in 2019 when they won the national championship. That unit gave up 21.9 points per game.

What will LSU football’s offensive line look like vs Baylor in Texas Bowl?
This is one of the main questions for the Tigers entering the bowl game. Star tackles Will Campbell and Emery Jones Jr. have both declared for the 2025 NFL Draft and will not play. It’s unclear if left guard Garrett Dellinger will play, and senior Miles Frazier looks to be switching from right guard to right tackle.
Young guys like freshman Tyree Adams, sophomores Paul Mubenga and Bo Bordelon all look poised to either start or play significant snaps against Baylor. With the potential of three freshmen, including center D.J. Chester, and one sophomore, how effective can the Tigers be on offense?
