Ohio State football to wear Rose Bowl stripe on helmets against Oregon

Ohio State’s uniform aesthetic against Oregon in the Rose Bowl on Wednesday will include more than a jersey patch.

As revealed on social media on Sunday, the Buckeyes will have a rose pattern blended into the scarlet stripe that lines their traditional gray helmets.

They previously donned the helmet stripes three years ago against Utah in the famed New Year’s Day bowl game.

In a high-scoring shootout that went down to the wire, the Buckeyes prevailed over the Utes in a 48-45 win. Quarterback C.J. Stroud and receiver Jaxon Smith-Njigba set school-records with 573 passing yards and 347 receiving yards.

This year’s Rose Bowl is serving as one of the quarterfinal sites for the College Football Playoff.

The Ducks are the top seed as the highest-ranked conference champion, while the eighth-seeded Buckeyes moved on in the bracket after a win over ninth-seeded Tennessee in the first round on Dec. 21.

Ohio State is wearing its traditional road uniforms against Oregon after it was in scarlet in its last two appearances in the Rose Bowl.
