Crimson Tide legends were among the stands to support Alabama basketball on Sunday.
Retired Alabama football coach Nick Saban was seen all smiles alongside wife, Miss Terry, as the No. 6 Crimson Tide wrapped up its non-conference schedule against South Dakota State with a 105-82 win.
One might figure Saban would be on the sidelines with Kalen DeBoer and company as UA football prepares to face Michigan in the ReliaQuest Bowl. After all, Tampa is a bit closer to Saban’s Jupiter residence than Tuscaloosa.
However, Saban has a connection with Alabama hoops for years.

Saban spoke to the program in February before its historic Final Four run. In March, he hopped on the phone with coach Nate Oats to offer words of wisdom after UA fell 102-88 to Florida in the first round of the SEC Tournament.
Some of the themes Saban hammered to his football teams have become part of the Alabama basketball lexicon.
At SEC Media Day in October, Alabama point guard Mark Sears said, “You can’t let all the rat poison get to you and cause you to stop working out, stop going hard at practice.’ “
Case in point, Sears shared an Instagram story of himself shooting baskets at 3 a.m. after a scoreless night against Illinois, rebounding from the outing with a season-best 24 points against Houston at the Players Era Festival.
