Now that Florida State football coach Mike Norvell has settled with his coaching staff, one of his top priorities is to upgrade the offensive line. The unit was one of many weak links that led to a 2-10 season this year.
As the transfer portal’s winter cycle opened Dec. 9 and closed Dec. 28, the Seminoles made good use of their time. They signed 11 transfers, including four experienced offensive linemen.
Each lineman has played at a high level and is estimated to be over 310 pounds. With Norvell bringing in former colleagues Gus Malzahn and Herb Hand to his staff from UCF, the Seminoles are expected to make improvements up front, put the offense back in shape, and turn the program around.
Here’s how the offensive can improve with the new pieces from the portal.

His size and strength are needed as the Seminoles struggled in pass protection and physicality. After protecting quarterback Jaxson Dart’s blindside for the Rebels, he will be asked to do the same at FSU for Thomas Castellanos.
“He showed tremendous potential as a three-year starter at his previous institution, and we believe with continued growth he has a chance to be one of the top offensive tackles in the country,” Norvell said.
“We are excited to add Micah and believe he’ll be a wonderful fit to our team.”
