‘We’re very focused’: Oregon football arrives in Los Angeles for Rose Bowl, CFP

The Oregon football team arrived in Los Angeles Sunday afternoon for this year’s Rose Bowl and College Football Playoff quarterfinal against Ohio State.

Some Ducks, like defensive coordinator Tosh Lupoi, arrived stone-faced and looked ready to get the game started right away. Others, like edge defender Jordan Burch, wore big sunglasses and stepped off the team bus with a loose smile.

Regardless of demeanor, the Ducks said they are approaching the Rose Bowl with a “business-like” mindset.

“The overall mood is definitely business,” safety Kobe Savage said. “Coach (Dan) Lanning does a good job of reiterating that throughout the week, reminding us it’s not really a bowl game, it’s a playoff game. It’s do or die. So it’s definitely a different mindset going into this.”

Though the Ducks will attend Media Day tomorrow in Los Angeles and participate in other events in the lead-up to the game, players said that their No. 1 focus is on the game on Wednesday.

“I know we’re focused on the game,” right tackle Ajani Cornelius said. “Whatever events that come with it naturally or that are mandatory we’ll take part in but we’re very focused.”

The Rose Bowl will kick off at 2 p.m. New Year’s Day in Pasadena, California.
