The winter transfer portal window closed last Saturday, meaning players can no longer enter into it until the spring window opens on April 16, 2025. Nine players have transferred from other Division I schools to New Mexico State so far this offseason, with a possibility for more to come.
The Aggies have already lost several key players to the portal. Running back Mike Washington transferred to Arkansas after originally signing with Utah, offensive lineman Louie Canepa followed former NM State offensive line coach Andrew Mitchell to Oklahoma State and defensive tackle Gabe Jones is now at Colorado State. Several other contributors, including safeties Tayden Barnes and Josiah Cox and offensive linemen Shiyazh Pete and Shamarr Jackson are still looking for a new school in the portal.
Running back Seth McGowan was formerly a part of that group, but withdrew from the portal on Sunday evening less than 24 hours after entering it on Sunday.
NM State has tried to replace its losses in the portal, and there are a few intriguing players among the nine transfers it has signed. Here are the ones to watch for heading into 2025:

QB Logan Fife
The Aggies struggled at quarterback last season. Through a combination of injuries and poor performances, four quarterbacks played for NM State last season and three of them started. None of them becoming the full-time starter coach Tony Sanchez wanted.
Logan Fife could put an end to that futility. The former Montana signal-caller was one of the first players to announce his transfer to NM State, doing so on Dec. 15.
