Alabama football has reportedly made a change on its defensive coaching staff.
Colin Hitschler, the Crimson Tide’s co-defensive coordinator and defensive backs coach, will not return to Alabama in 2025 according to a report by ESPN and multiple other outlets.
Hitschler had one year left on his contract with the Crimson Tide.
Hitschler was the safeties coach at Cincinnati in 2020 and 2021 before adding the co-defensive coordinator title in 2022. He had the same role at Wisconsin in 2023 before joining Kalen DeBoer’s first staff at Alabama.
Alabama had the 19th-best pass defense in the country, allowing 185.8 passing yards per game. The Crimson Tide was also one of 11 defenses to average more than two takeaways per game.
