ORLANDO — UCF added an intriguing piece to its quarterback room Friday via the NCAA transfer portal.
Tayven Jackson, a former four-star recruit who made six starts at Indiana over the past two seasons, announced a verbal commitment to the Knights. Jackson will have two years of eligibility remaining.
Jackson — a 6-foot-4, 212-pound redshirt sophomore from Greenwood, Indiana — appeared in seven games this season for the Hoosiers on their way to the College Football Playoff. He made one start, throwing for one touchdown and running for another in a 31-17 victory over Washington.

For the 2024 season, Jackson completed 23 of 37 pass attempts for 349 yards with four touchdowns and one interception, and he rushed 15 times for 73 yards and a touchdown.
Prior to his time at Indiana, Jackson spent one year at Tennessee, where he appeared in three games and rushed for his first career touchdown against Akron.
Upon Scott Frost’s arrival as head coach, UCF was down to two scholarship quarterbacks on its roster. KJ Jefferson has no eligibility remaining, and freshmen EJ Colson and Riley Trujillo entered the portal after preserving their respective redshirts this fall.
Dylan Rizk, who started UCF’s final four games of 2024, is set to return along with Jacurri Brown and Florida Atlantic transfer Cam Fancher. Rizk lit up Arizona for 294 passing yards, 55 rushing yards and three touchdowns in a 56-12 Space Game blowout victory, but he threw just one touchdown with two…
