Alabama football linebacker Deontae Lawson to return to Crimson Tide in 2025

A centerpiece of the Alabama football defense will be back in Tuscaloosa in 2025

Deontae Lawson, a redshirt junior linebacker out of Mobile, announced Saturday he would return to the Crimson Tide in 2025, joining linebacker Justin Jefferson and defensive lineman LT Overton.

“This program and the staff have been like a second home to me,” Lawson wrote in a statement. “The opportunity I have been given to play for coach (Nick) Saban and coach (Kalen) DeBoer is a blessing. I want to finish what I started from the day I stepped foot on campus, and that includes winning a national championship.

“While I will always have love for Mobile, Tuscaloosa has become a second home and I’m not ready to leave. I. will do everything in my power to help the 2025 group live up to the Bama Standard, and I look forward to leading this team next season.”

Jihaad Campbell, Jalen Milroe and Tyler Booker have each announced their entrances into the 2025 NFL draft.
