Michigan football is seeing something of an exodus after the 2024 regular season, but like in previous years, it’s of players who haven’t much been contributors in the past.
However, one such player who is departing, despite being a lower-rated recruit, had a ton of potential.
A late commit in 2023, Cincinnati (Ohio) Princeton edge rusher Breeon Ishmail had a solid spring game, but didn’t see the field but for 89 total snaps — only 16 of which came along the defensive line.
According to On3’s Pete Nakos, Ishmail has decided to remain within the Big Ten as he has signed with the new-look Purdue team led by Barry Odom.

As a recruit, according to the 247Sports Composite, Ishmail was listed as the No. 1,110 player in the country, regardless of position. He’ll have three years of eligibility remaining with the Boilermakers.
With Ishmail gone, the Wolverines will likely have to rely more on its freshman and sophomore talent for depth, with players like Lugard Edokpayi and Nate Marshall likely being candidates to see the field sooner than later.
