Momo’s to Howser: Florida State football’s new $138 million facility progress on display

Those driving on Pensacola Street or Stadium Drive near Doak Campbell Stadium can see a clear view of Florida State’s ongoing construction of the Seminoles’ new $138 million football-only facility.

Scaffolding of the Albert J. and Judith A. Dunlap Football Center towers over the two roads and rapid construction continues with the new building in view from Dick Howser Stadium to Momo’s Pizza just off Pensacola.

The Seminoles facility will be a state-of-the-art 150,000-square-foot football-only building. The University broke ground on the facility in 2022 and the project is set to be completed by the summer of 2025.

The estimated cost for the project totals $138 million and FSU anticipates that the facility will have a life of at least 50 years.

FSU football’s coaching staff will have new offices in the building and the facility will include a weight training area, recovery and nutrition stations, and virtual reality performance enhancement areas, among other amenities.

A primary reason for the construction was to provide FSU’s football program with a modernized facility that competes with other top football programs across the country.

With the growth of revenue in college football and the continued investments made by boosters and donors, programs across the country are building modern facilities, with some rivaling those of NFL teams. FSU hopes the new building can be a tool in recruiting and elevating the performance of the football team.

The football program’s old offices and spaces in the Moore Atheltic Center will be vacated, allowing for more office and meeting space for the University’s 20 other athletics programs.

The project is separate from the $265 million renovations being done to Doak Campbell Stadium.

Both investments are part of the school’s efforts to modernize the football program’s facilities.
