Wisconsin transfer cornerback Jace Arnold committed to Sam Houston State on Tuesday.
Arnold is the second now-former Badger to commit to the Bearkats, joining QB Mabrey Mettauer. The two players follow former Wisconsin offensive coordinator Phil Longo, who was recently hired as Sam Houston State’s new head coach.

Arnold entered the portal after two seasons with the Badgers. He’s one of numerous Wisconsin class of 2023 signees to depart — he originally signed with the program in June of 2022 when Paul Chryst was still at the helm. Wisconsin has seen a destruction of its cornerback depth this transfer cycle, Arnold’s departure being one of many from the room.
The former three-star recruit was ranked by 247Sports as the No. 752 player in the class of 2022, No. 76 cornerback and No. 71 player from his home state of Georgia. He appeared in 14 games during his tenure as a Badger, mostly appearing on special teams.

Arnold joins a Sam Houston State program that went 10-3 in 2024 in only its second season at the Football Bowl Subdivision level. Head coach K.C. Keeler took the Temple vacancy, leading to Longo’s hire. The former Badger offensive coordinator was previously an assistant with the Bearkats from 2014-16.
Arnold is the 17th Badger transfer to officially announce a new destination. Wisconsin saw 24 total players depart during the recent winter window, pending the ongoing situation with star freshman Xavier Lucas.
Wisconsin has landed commitments from transfer cornerbacks Geimere Latimer (Jacksonville State) and D’Yoni Hill (Miami) in recent weeks. The two expect to play significant roles in 2025 for a suddenly-thin Wisconsin secondary.
