Michigan State football lands BYU LB Aisea Moa, Idaho TE Mason Mini in transfer portal

Former BYU linebacker Aisea Moa committed to transferring to Michigan State football, he announced via social media on Monday afternoon.

Moa is a rising redshirt junior who spent the past three seasons with BYU. He appeared in 15 games over the last two seasons as a linebacker and had 16 total tackles with a forced fumble in 2024. Moa has two years of eligibility remaining.

He is the 14th player to commit to Michigan State through the transfer portal this offseason.

Shortly after Moa committed to the Spartans, tight end Mason Mini became the 15th player to commit to MSU on Monday afternoon.

Mini is a tight end who played at Idaho last year and has three years of eligibility remaining, according to his social media profile.

He had five catches for 61 yards last year while playing in 12 games for the Vandals.

ON STAFF: Michigan State football announces 2 new assistants for Jonathan Smith’s staff

Moa, meanwhile, is listed at 6 feet 2 and 245 pounds and lined up as an edge rusher and off-ball linebacker for the Cougars. He committed two days after MSU’s previous transfer addition, former Central Michigan receiver Evan Boyd.

Moa was listed as a four-star recruit out of Weber High School in Ogden, Utah. Spartans head coach Jonathan Smith originally offered Moa as a high school recruit in 2021 when he was Oregon State’s head coach. According to 247 Sports’ transfer portal rankings, MSU ranked 27th nationally and eighth in the Big Ten before Moa committed.
