Purdue football’s new transfer receiver already scored TD vs. Indiana

Isaiah Myers’ rise from junior college All-American to FCS Division I scholarship now shifts to Purdue football and the Big Ten.

The Boilermakers announced Monday they have signed Myers out of the transfer portal. Myers played at Charlotte last season, totaling 237 yards and three touchdowns on 13 receptions.

One of the touchdowns came in the 49ers’ loss at Indiana. That gave him more touchdowns against the Hoosiers than the entire Purdue team scored in a 66-0 loss to is rival.

Oct 19, 2024; Annapolis, Maryland, USA; Navy Midshipmen cornerback Bryce Allen (28) is called for a pass interference penalty on a pass intended for Charlotte 49ers wide receiver Isaiah Myers (2) during the second half at Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium.

Myers, considered a three-star junior college prospect prior to last season, has two years of eligibility remaining.

He played at Cincinnati-area Princeton High School with another incoming Boilermaker — former Michigan edge rusher Breeon Ishmail. Another incoming transfer — former Akron edge rusher CJ Nunnally IV — and Myers were at Independence (Kansas) Community College in 2022.

In 2023, he collected 683 yards and a conference-best eight touchdowns on 40 receptions while earning first-team NJCAA All-American honors. He played in all 12 games as a regular member of Charlotte’s receiver rotation last season.

Myers is the third known receiver addition for new coach Barry Odom, joining Chauncey Magwood (UCF) and Charles Rogers (USC). Most of Purdue’s top receivers from last season moved on, including Jahmal Edrine (Virginia), Jaron Tibbs (Kansas State) and Leland Smith (San Jose State). CJ Smith remains uncommitted in the portal.
