WKU add two transfers to 2025 class

The Western Kentucky football program added a pair of transfers with wide receiver Jairus Mack and quarterback Maverick McIvor joining the Hilltoppers for the 2025 campaign, WKU head coach Tyson Helton announced Monday.

With the new signees, Western now has 25 incoming student-athletes for next season, including 13 offensive players.

Mack, a 5-foot-10 redshirt senior, joins WKU after spending four seasons at Charlotte, where he started 14 of 35 career games. With the 49ers, Mack reeled in 51 receptions for 959 yards and three touchdowns, including 418 yards on 19 catches in 2024.

Mack was a three-star prospect out of Clarke Central High School in Athens, Ga., where he was considered the 150th-best wide receiver and 85th-best player from Georgia in the 2021 graduating class.

McIvor tranfers to Western after three seasons at Abilene Christian, where he earned acclaim as one of the top players in FCS. Across three seasons, the 6-foot-2 Texas native threw for 8,012 yards and 63 touchdowns with 21 interceptions while completing more than 60% of his passes. In 2024, McIvor threw for 3,828 yards with 30 TDs and seven interceptions while leading the Wildcats to the United Athletic Conference championship and a berth in the FCS Playoffs.

Mack was named a Second Team All-American by FCS Football Central and was an All-UAC First-Team selection at quarterback. He finished fourth in the FCS in passing yards, fifth in passing yards per game (294.5) and sixth in passing TDs.

Before Abilene Christian, McIvor spent three seasons at Texas Tech. He medically redshirted after suffering a preseason leg injury as a true freshman in 2019 but didn’t see any game action after that.
