A postponement of the College Football Playoff semifinal between the Texas Longhorns and Ohio State was not an option being considered by the Cotton Bowl as of Tuesday night, a source with direct knowledge of the situation told the Austin American-Statesman.
In an official statement issued Tuesday night, a Cotton Bowl spokesperson said bowl staff continues to “monitor” weather reports, with winter weather in the forecast for later this week.

The game between the Longhorns (13-2) and Ohio State (12-2) is scheduled for a 6:30 p.m. CT kickoff on Friday at AT&T Stadium in Arlington.
As of Tuesday night, the National Weather Service said it expects “impactful snowfall” to begin Thursday morning and continue through Thursday night. Temperatures are expected to climb to nearly 40 degrees on Friday afternoon following the precipitation.

The NWS said “minor to moderate (travel) impacts are likely due to a mix of winter precipitation.” The teams are scheduled to arrive on Wednesday, and the ESPN broadcast trucks are already on-site.

“We continue to monitor weather reports, and over the last 24 hours, the forecast for later this week has improved according to the National Weather Service. We have been meeting routinely with city officials, the Director of Transportation for North Texas and the College Football Playoff.
