Carson Beck backs off NFL draft, is entering transfer portal according to multiple reports

Mandarin High School graduate and University of Georgia quarterback Carson Beck is apparently backing off his Dec. 28 announcement that he is entering the NFL draft and instead is entering the transfer portal, according to two reports.

On3.com, citing “multiple sources,” reported on Thursday that Beck was entering the portal and tagged himself with a “do not contact” designation, which, as On3 reported, means a player already has a school in mind.

ESPN.com reported that Miami is Beck’s favored landing spot, but Notre Dame, which won the College Football Playoff semifinal 27-24 over Penn State on Thursday behind quarterback Riley Leonard, and Texas Tech are also in the mix.

Leonard is in his final year of eligibility.

Carson Beck has more college eligiblity

Beck has one year of eligibility left. He threw for 7,912 yards, 58 touchdowns and 20 interceptions in 39 games for Georgia, the last two seasons as a starter. He was a backup to Stetson Bennett and played in 11 games during the Bulldogs’ two national championship teams in 2021 and 2022.

In his first year as a starter in 2023, Beck (6 feet 4, 215 yards) threw for 3,941 yards and 24 touchdown passes but Georgia lost to Alabama in the SEC Championship game after a 12-0 start, and did not reach the College Football Playoff.

The Bulldogs settled for the Orange Bowl and walloped a depleted Florida State team in the Orange Bowl 63-3.
