College GameDay: See Lee Corso’s headgear pick for Penn State-Notre Dame in the CFP semifinals

Ahead of ESPN’s broadcast of the first College Football Playoff semifinal game, its College GameDay crew was on site at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami Gardens, Florida for No. 6 seed Penn State’s matchup against No. 7 seed Notre Dame.

After the Nittany Lions topped SMU and Boise State and the Fighting Irish beat Indiana and Georgia in the first two rounds of the 12-team College Football Playoff, the GameDay crew broke down the semifinal matchup. Penn State entered the game as a one-point favorite, according to BetMGM.

Of course, GameDay also made some picks. And while Desmond Howard and Pat McAfee picked Penn State, Nick Saban and Kirk Herbstreit went with Notre Dame, as did legendary broadcaster Lee Corso.

NOTRE DAME: QB Riley Leonard doesn’t know why teams don’t tackle him more often

Corso marched on stage with the Fighting Irish mascot and did a little jig before a scary moment where the 89-year-old broadcaster almost lost his balance. But he looked OK and like he was having a great time, as the Notre Dame fight song played in the background.
