Georgia Bulldogs senior starting quarterback Carson Beck is entering the NCAA transfer portal. Beck previously declared for the 2025 NFL draft. Beck probably won’t be returning to Georgia and many Bulldogs fans are shocked.
Beck’s decision is reasonable. He is recovering after having elbow surgery after Georgia’s SEC championship win. Beck is expected to be healthy for the fall, but his injury hurt his draft stock. So why not return for another year, heal up and earn millions in name, image and likeness money?
Beck finished the 2024 with the No. 9 QBR (quarterback rating) in the country at 80.9. Beck totaled 3,485 passing yards, 28 passing touchdowns and 12 interceptions. Beck is a plug and play starter and may be the best quarterback in college football in 2025 despite his injury and some midseason interception woes in 2024.
Beck is the No. 1 ranked player in the transfer portal. Early contenders to land the Georgia quarterback include Texas Tech, Miami and Ohio State.

Cartright considers Beck’s transfer “a surprising turn of events”. Beck has already played five seasons of college football, but two of these years included 2020 and a redshirt season in 2021.
