One of the best receivers in the 2026 class pulled a big surprise on Saturday at the Navy All-American Bowl.
Devin Carter, a four-star receiver from Douglasville (Ga.) Douglas County, committed to Auburn over more than 30 other offers but LSU, Alabama and Ohio State were the three other hats on the table.
He had previously been committed to Florida State where his father, Dexter, played for the Seminoles.
His commitment on Saturday comes as a surprise as Carter was one of the top 2026 prospects playing in the All-American Bowl, the first time underclassmen were invited to play in the game.
There was a list of expected commitments but Carter was not on it. There were communications with his father, Dexter, who starred at Florida State, on Friday night but nothing was mentioned about an upcoming pledge.
Yet, Carter had been planning to make his announcement and it’s a huge win for the Tigers as the Douglasville Douglas County standout finished with 41 receptions for 669 yards and five touchdowns this season. The four-star standout is ranked as the fifth-best receiver in the 2026 class.
He plays on the same high school team as Aaron Gregory, the fourth-best receiver in the 2026 class, who had even better stats through his junior season. The high four-star committed to Texas A&M in October.
