Georgia punter Noah Jones (98) punts during the first day fall football camp in Athens, Ga., on Thursday, Aug. 3, 2023.
Georgia Bulldogs junior punter Noah Jones has entered the NCAA transfer portal. Jones announced his decision to enter the transfer portal via social media. Jones made his decision shortly after Georgia starting punter Brett Thorson said he’d be back for the 2025 college football season.
“Thank you Coach Smart, Coach Cochran, Coach King, Coach Ray, Coach Benidict and the University of Georgia for the past four years and the opportunity I was given!! With that being said, I am entering the transfer portal with one year of eligibility remaining!” said Jones via social media.
Jones enrolled at Georgia in 2021. He participated in Georgia’s G-Day spring scrimmage several times, but never saw game action. His top opportunity to play actually came in the Sugar Bowl. UGA punter Brett Thorson suffered a significant knee injury in the SEC championship, so Georgia had a competition at punter.
However, Jones lost the punter competition to freshman Drew Miller, who punted four times in the Sugar Bowl for 159 yards (39.8 yards per punt).
