While Auburn basketball was fighting South Carolina to retain its undefeated status in SEC play, Auburn football got some good news on the recruiting trail as Devin Carter committed to the Tigers.
Carter, who announced his commitment during the Navy All-American game in San Antonio, is a wide receiver in the 2026 class. The Douglas County (Georgia) High School product is a consensus four-star, with ESPN, On3 and Rivals all considering him a top-100 player nationally. ESPN and Rivals rate him as a top-five player at his position.
With nearly three dozen offers, Carter’s decision came down to Auburn, Alabama, LSU and Ohio State.

Carter’s pledge is Auburn’s sixth in its 2026 class, and it keeps the Tigers on pace to reach Hugh Freeze’s goal of securing a top-10 class.

Carter continues a run of blue-chip receivers for Freeze’s Auburn. Should he sign with the Tigers, he’d be the sixth receiver with at least a four-star rating to do so in Freeze’s tenure.
Listed at 6-foot and 175 pounds, Carter’s somewhat of a mold-breaker, not projecting as an outright slot receiver or someone who’s placed specifically out wide. He was productive for Douglas County in 2024, top-two on the team in receiving yards (669) and receiving touchdowns (5) while catching 41 passes.
