Transfer portal activity continues to heat up for Penn State football as the Nittany Lions earn a commitment from Michigan defensive lineman Owen Wafle.
Wafle, a 6-foot-2, 298-pound defensive lineman from Middletown, N.J., did not play at all during his freshman season for the Wolverines, so he will have four years of eligibility left when he transitions to State College.
According to the 247Sports Composite rankings, Wafle was a 4-star prospect from The Hun School. He was ranked No. 445 nationally, the No. 50 defensive lineman in the country, and the No. 9 player from New Jersey.
Penn State has had much success developing and maximizing defensive line talent. Big Ten Defensive Player of the Year and All-American Abdul Carter is the latest in a long line of pass rushers and run stoppers.

With Carter going to the draft and a few other defensive linemen with the option to turn pro, the Nittany Lions are ensuring the trenches remain at a high level, both in the short term and long term. They already picked up another defensive lineman, defensive end Enai White, from Texas A&M earlier this offseason.
The same can be said for the secondary as safety King Mack makes his return to Penn State after spending last season playing for Alabama.
With the weekend editions, Penn State’s incoming transfer portal class grows to six — Wafle, Mack, White, offensive lineman TJ Shanahan Jr., and wide receivers Kyron Hudson (USC) and Devonte Ross (Troy). The clock is still ticking to see who will transfer out of Penn State as well.
