It was a busy weekend for Texas A&M football, as coach Mike Elko and his staff, especially O-line coach Adam Cushing, hosted the No. 1 and No. 2-ranked offensive lineman in the 2026 recruiting class during Saturday’s first junior day of the offseason.
Five-star offensive tackle Immanuel Iheanacho, who will reportedly visit Auburn, Florida, Georgia, and Oklahoma over the next few months, enjoyed his visit to Texas A&M, knowing that the successful history of O-line development was just part of what the Aggies offer in the trenches.
This weekend, Jackson Cantwell, the top-ranked prospect for the 2026 cycle and a five-star OT, also made a visit. During his interview with On3’s Chad Simmons, he shared several insightful quotes that cast A&M’s coaching staff in a favorable light.
While this is just the start of his relationship with the Aggies, Cantwell’s return since he was just a young player on the rise in 2020 looked a lot different, as Elko and his staff have made him the priority prospect in the cycle.
“Coach Cushing’s ball knowledge and ability to teach stood out a lot too. How coach Klein operates his offense also caught my attention.”
However, while the X’s and O’s are critical, culture and overall fit are high on Cantwell’s list of needs, and Texas A&M is beginning to check off several boxes.
“The development, culture, coaching staff and continued interest make the Aggies a contender. We will see how the official visits shake out, but I like the Aggies a lot.”
According to 247Sports Composite, Jackson Cantwell is currently the No. 1-ranked recruit, offensive lineman, and prospect out of Missouri.
