Michigan football gets its second transfer portal commitment of the day

Michigan football already got one transfer portal commitment on Sunday with former UMass and Arizona wide receiver Anthony Simpson pledging to the maize and blue. But the Wolverines weren’t done getting transfer portal pledges on the day.

Though Michigan had struck out with cornerback targets Tacario Davis and Emmanuel Karnley, the Wolverines expanded their board and ended up reeling in someone that secondary coach LaMar Morgan has some familiarity with.

After spending four years at Louisiana, where Morgan was the defensive coordinator in 2022-23, cornerback Caleb Anderson was a three-star prospect. In four years in Lafayette, Anderson had two interceptions, including a 54-yard return for a touchdown against Rice in 2022.

And now, according to The Michigan Insider’s Sam Webb, Anderson has committed to the maize and blue for his final year in college football.

It’s unclear what this may mean for Michigan’s pursuit of former Washington cornerback Thaddeus Dixon, who visited Ann Arbor on Sunday.
