Texas football safety Andrew Mukuba declared for the 2025 NFL draft on Monday after exhausting his college eligibility. The LBJ High School alum played one year at Texas after spending three seasons at Clemson.
Mukuba was arguably the most impactful player to transfer to Texas this past offseason. He anchored the safety position for the Longhorns along with Michael Taaffe, allowing Jahdae Barron to switch to playing full-time cornerback. Barron subsequently won the Jim Thorpe Award, and Texas’ secondary became lauded as one of the best in the country.

Mukuba played in 15 games this past season recording 69 tackles, 11 pass defenses and a team-leading five interceptions. Each stat was a career-high for Mukuba. He earned Third-Team All-SEC honors after his 2024-25 season.
In three years at Clemson, Mukuba played 35 games collecting 143 tackles, 17 pass defenses and one interception.
A kid from Zimbabwe
Mukuba knew nothing about football initially. He moved from Zimbabwe to the United States in 2011 when he was nine, growing up with soccer rather than American-style football.
