Penn State OL Nick Dawkins announces decision for 2025

The makeup of the Penn State offense is beginning to take form this offseason with some big decisions being made by players. The big headline this week for the offensive roster may be the returns of star running backs Nicholas Singleton and Kaytron Allen, but who will be paving the paths for them next fall? Nick Dawkins has confirmed he will be back to help do just that.

Center Nick Dawkins announced he will come back to Penn State for another season, his sixth year of eligibility with the Nittany Lions. Dawkins will be taking advantage of the extra year of eligibility provided by the NCAA as a result of the 2020 season impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic.

“We had a great season this year, but there is still unfinished business,” Dawkins said in a statement shared on his social media accounts. “That is why I have decided I will forgo the NFL draft and return to Penn State for my sixth and final season in 2025.”

Dawkins made a name for himself on and off the football field this past season. Dawkins was named the winner of the Wuerffel Trophy for his community service efforts, a first for a Penn State player.

The return of Dawkins is a significant one as he will anchor the middle of the offensive line for another season. The more stability you can have with a solid offensive line, the better. And Penn State is looking to build quite an offensive line for the 2025 season.

Dawkins will continue to snap the football to returning quarterback Drew Allar, who will have the luxury of handing the football off to Singleton or Allen a good amount, but will also be tasked with establishing a connection with his receivers and a new starting tight end following the departure of Tyler Warren to the NFL and a roster overhaul at the receiver position.
