There’s one notable name missing from Utah’s 2025 spring football roster.
Quarterback Cam Rising’s name does not appear on the school’s recently released 2025 roster, seemingly marking the end of the senior’s six-season career at Utah.
The writing was on the wall after Utah brought in New Mexico quarterback Devon Dampier, who was coached by new Ute offensive coordinator Jason Beck last season, and now it appears all but official — Rising’s time as a Ute quarterback is done.
“I’ve talked to Cam a few times but that is really up to Cam to divulge that when he wants to divulge what his plan is,” Utah coach Kyle Whittingham said in a press conference on Tuesday. “But we’ve certainly had communication and you don’t see him on our roster right now so that can tell you some things right there. I’ll leave that up to Cam to outline exactly what his plan is.”
Rising took the baton from Tyler Huntley and helped revitalize the quarterback position at Utah, leading the Utes some of the highest highs in school history.
In 2021, he helped the Utes to their first Pac-12 football title after throwing for 2,493 yards and 20 touchdowns and rushing for 499 yards and six scores, and in 2022, he and the Utes went back-to-back, as he threw for 3,034 yards and 26 touchdowns and rushed for 465 yards and six scores.
Rising was a notable part of some of the biggest victories in school history, including back-to-back wins over Oregon in 2021 and two wins against USC in 2022.
