Penn State football will have star tailback Nick Singleton for a final season, after all.
Singleton announced via social media on Monday that he is, indeed, returning to the Nittany Lions to play his senior season in 2025 rather than enter this spring’s NFL Draft.
The junior star from the Reading, Pa. area, overcame early-season injury issues and peaked during Penn State’s postseason drive, regaining his impressive running burst and speed. He was exceptionally productive in the Nittany Lions’ final four games by averaging 7.2 yards per carry (366 yards) and scoring five touchdowns − three in the narrow CFP semifinal loss to Notre Dame.
Singleton and his co-starting tailback Kaytron Allen − who also announced his decision to return in 2025 on Monday − became the first PSU running backs to rush for more than 1,000 yards in the same season.
Overall, Singleton gained 1,099 yards in 2024, averaging 6.4 per carry. He only lost 14 yards all season. He also was an integral part of the passing game, making a career-best 41 receptions for 375 yards and five more scores.

He just missed out on the team rushing lead to Allen, who gained 1,108 yards on nearly 50 more carries for a 5-yard average.
“We have accomplished a lot here, and we took another big step forward this season. But we know we are capable of being even better,” Singleton said in his social media post.
