Texas football will return one starter from its 2024 offensive line after all.
DJ Campbell, who played right guard for the Longhorns this season, announced his intent to return for another season via social media on Wednesday afternoon.
The 2025 season will be Campbell’s last in a Longhorn uniform.
The native of Arlington took over the starting job as a sophomore in 2023 and has helped Texas to back-to-back College Football Playoff semifinal appearances. The Texas offensive line was named a semifinalist for the Joe Moore Award in 2023 and was one of three finalists in 2024. That award is distributed annually to college football’s best offensive line.

Listed at 6-foot-3, 330 pounds, Campbell received a 76.8 grade as a pass blocker and a 66.5 grade as a run blocker in 2024 from Pro Football Focus ‒ both improvements from his 2023 marks.
Getting him back is especially important for the Longhorns with their other four starters in the trenches all departing early for the NFL or exhausting their collegiate eligibility.
