The defensive secondary has been a major focus for the Oregon Ducks in the recruiting world over the last few years, and they’ve done an excellent job of bringing in some of the best players in the nation.
Just this year, Oregon signed the No. 2 safety, the No. 3 cornerback, the No. 5 cornerback, and the No. 8 safety in the 2025 class. Now they are trying to make a splash once again with 2026 4-star S Jireh Edwards.
On Wednesday, Edwards announced that he has cut his recruitment down to five schools, putting Oregon in the mix alongside the Georgia Bulldogs, Auburn Tigers, Texas A&M Aggies, and Tennessee Volunteers.
Edwards is rated as the No. 3 safety in the 2026 class, per 247Sports, and the No. 33 overall player in the nation. He stands at 6-foot-1, 194 pounds, and comes from St. Frances Academy in Baltimore, Maryland — the same school as Oregon’s soon-to-be redshirt freshman cornerback Ify Obidegwu.
Edwards has been to Eugene on a visit before, and we will likely see him make a return trip this summer as he continues to narrow down his recruitment.
