After a program-record 11 Texas football players were selected in the NFL draft last year, several Longhorns are hoping to surpass that number.
Some Texas players are going pro because that’s their only choice — they’ve exhausted all their eligibility. Others are going because they’re near-locks to be highly draft (Kelvin Bank Jr., for instance). And there’s another group who may not be highly picked but preferred the NFL to another season in Austin or the transfer portal.
Let’s take a look at the Texas football players who have declared for the 2025 NFL draft, which begins April 24 in Green Bay, Wisc., and the seniors who may have a shot at hearing their name called.

Jahdae Barron
Barron, an Austin native, was awarded the Thorpe Award as the best defensive back in college football this past season and it’s no mystery why.
In his last season on his hometown campus, he switched positions from safety to cornerback, wore Michael Huff’s No. 7 and had one of the best defensive seasons Texas has ever seen. He started for a defense ranked among the country’s best, racking up 46 tackles, 11 passes defended and five interceptions. Barron chipped in a sack as well.

Kelvin Banks Jr.
A stalwart offensive lineman projected for the first round.
