Pro Football Focus selects best head coaching fit for Jaguars

Bills quarterback Josh Allen talks with offensive coordinator Joe Brady between drills.

First it was ESPN who predicted that Buffalo Bills’ offensive coordinator Joe Brady would be the Jacksonville Jaguars next head coach.

Now it’s Pro Football Focus calling Brady the “best fit” for the Jaguars job.

“Brady worked under Sean Payton in the past. He elevated Joe Burrow’s game at LSU. He currently has Josh Allen playing the best football of his career, albeit in a more conservative nature. Brady’s willingness to adapt his system to the strengths of his players is huge.”

The 2024 season is Brady’s first as the full-time offensive coordinator of the Bills. In 2023 he took over that role in an interim capacity after being the quarterbacks coach. He also has previous offensive coordinator experience with the Panthers from 2020-2021.

The Buffalo offense this season has been one of the best in football, finishing the regular season ranked second in points per game and top 10 in yards per rush and yards per pass attempt.

As PFF notes, Brady does a very good job of building his offense around the skill sets of his players. While, like any play-caller, he has core principles that make up his system, he’s willing to adjust based on what’s needed.

Brady is reportedly scheduled to interview for the Jaguars’ head coach opening on Saturday.
