Penn State football coach visits Dunlap to watch Mack Sutter play basketball

College football coaches are flocking to Dunlap to see Mack Sutter.

The four-star tight end recruit welcomed four coaches Friday from three of the schools on his list of 12 finalists. But the biggest visitor was Penn State head coach James Franklin, who is coming off a College Football Playoff semifinal appearance, and Nittany Lions tight ends coach, Ty Howle, who watched Sutter play basketball against Metamora.

Sutter, part of the Class of 2026, attended the Penn State-Washington game on Nov. 9.

Later in the day, Ole Miss tight ends coach Joe Cox and special teams coordinator Jake Schoonover stopped by Sutter’s house for his first in-home visit. He also made a pair of unofficial campus visits to Oxford, Miss., seeing two games highlighted by the 2024 edition of the Egg Bowl against rival Mississippi State.

The 6-foot-6 tight end told the Journal Star in December his college visits are done until spring, estimating a timeline to making an official commitment coming in late winter/early spring.
