OXFORD — The likely starting quarterback for Ole Miss football is 2025 is no longer a dual-sport athlete, according to a report from 247Sports.
Austin Simmons will not be on the 2025 Ole Miss baseball roster, according to the report. Simmons is entering his redshirt sophomore season. He was a left-handed pitcher for Ole Miss baseball team as well as a quarterback.

Simmons led a 10-play, 75-yard touchdown drive in Ole Miss’ game against Georgia. After Ole Miss’ Gator Bowl victory, Ole Miss football coach Lane Kiffin said Dart has set the perfect example for Simmons.
On the diamond, Simmons made 13 relief appearances in 2024. He had a 2-0 record with a 3.21 ERA. Simmons has already recovered from a UCL sprain he suffered while pitching against Alabama.
