Clemson football quarterback Cade Klubnik revealed why he returned to the Tigers for his fourth season.
“I wanted to be at a certain spot (in the NFL draft), and I don’t think I was quite there, so I want to come back for another year and really have a great fourth year,” Klubnik said Thursday on the Field Talk Podcast. “That’s kind of what I want to have and go have the best year I’ve had yet and just catapult that draft stock hopefully even higher.”
Klubnik elected to use his final year of his eligibility in December after setting career highs in passing yards (3,639), completions (308) and total touchdowns (43) in 2024. He led Clemson to its first ACC championship win since 2022 and first College Football Playoff appearance since 2020.
Clemson lost to Texas in the first round of the CFP, but Klubnik performed well against the No. 2 scoring defense. He completed 60% of his passes and threw for 336 yards, three touchdowns and one interception. It was the most passing yards and touchdown passes Texas allowed in a game all season.
Winning a national championship is another reason Klubnik is returning.
“We’ve got a great thing coming back, and I came to Clemson to win a national championship, and that’s still right here for me,” Klubnik said. “I think we got the best team that we’ve had since I’ve been here coming back.”

Clemson will return every end-of-season starter with eligibility remaining, including wide receiver Antonio Williams and offensive tackles Blake Miller and Tristan Leigh. Klubnik will enter his third season under offensive coordinator Garrett Riley and have another year with his talented skill-position players.
