How did Oregon’s Dan Lanning vote in final US LBM Coaches Poll after the CFP championship?

The Oregon football season ended three weeks ago when the Ducks lost to Ohio State in the Rose Bowl.

The season for the Buckeyes ended Monday night when they beat Notre Dame, 34-23, in the College Football Playoff championship game – a win that also elevated Ohio State to No. 1 in the final US LBM Coaches Poll.

The Big Ten Conference champion Ducks (13-1), who were undefeated and No. 1 in eight straight polls going into their CFP quarterfinal in the Rose Bowl, finished No. 4. The Fighting Irish were No. 2 and Texas was No. 3.

Oregon coach Dan Lanning, one of 53 coaches to participate in the poll, had the Ducks ranked No. 3 on his final ballot. Not all agreed. Among them were former Oregon offensive coordinator and Arizona State coach Kenny Dillingham, who had the Sun Devils at No. 5 and the Ducks at No. 6. That was also the ranking order for Washington coach Jedd Fisch.

Lanning ranked the Sun Devils (11-3), who lost in the CFP quarterfinals to Texas, at No. 7, which is ultimately where the Sun Devils finished.

The Ducks were No. 3 in the final Associated Press media poll, their highest finished since landing at No. 2 in the final poll of the 2014 season.
