Penn State football’s breakthrough success of this past season is driving even higher expectations for the next one.
The final US LBM Coaches Poll of the season, released on Tuesday, validates the strides made by the No. 5 Nittany Lions this past season: winning a program-best 13 games and advancing to the College Football Playoff semifinals behind another nationally-elite defense.
It also all hints at what may be to come for a loaded team that’s in the process of retooling it star-studded roster and hiring a new defensive coordinator.
Expectations fueled by this recently-completed season that ends with its highest ranking in nearly 20 years.
