Three years after helping the Cincinnati Bengals reach the Super Bowl as linebackers coach, Colts Neck native Al Golden is returning to the NFL as the team’s defensive coordinator.
The announcement came Thursday, just three days after Golden was part of the College Football Playoff’s National Championship Game as Notre Dame’s defensive coordinator, a position he held since leaving the Bengals.
Golden, 55, will join the staff of newly hired head coach Zac Taylor, having left the Bengals for Notre Dame just days after their loss to the Los Angeles Rams in Super Bowl LVI.
